Paul, My question is in regard to the shotglass - American or European - as we know it today that is used to measure and/or serve distilled spirits. Do you know where I might find a picture of one of the shots made in the 1830s by the New England Glass Company or the Boston & Sandwich Glass Company? That would be a 180 year old glass, but the oldest in my collection is only nearly 100 years old.

: That question has too many variables to have a definitive answer. Are you asking about American shotglasses or European? Are you asking about shot glasses that measured distilled liquids or shot glasses that before them measured gun pellets? (gun shot glasses)There are also other definitions (size and shape) as to what is a shot glass. If a gun (shot gun LOL) was held to my head I would say the first "shot glass" was produced in the 1830's by both the New England Glass company and the Boston and Sandwich Glass Company. The pressed versions sell for $60 to $80.
