I have tried to communicate with the Guinness people, but gotten no reply. They actually contacted me, to find out if I knew how to contact the current record holder (he apparently moved out of Las Vegas).
I communicated with Brad Rogers (the current record holder) a number of times, and his take on what it would take for Guinness to re-visit the record would be "a significant increase" in the number, but he was not sure what that meant.
It also seemed that the Guinness people are using the Pickvet definition of a shotglass, which means no Hard Rock style shooters, and it also rules out a large number of European glasses, along with ones made out of metal, and quite a few other types of glasses.
If they are following Pickvet in other ways, they would count the same design made with different colors as the same glass, and the same design on different shaped glasses as only one glass.
With uncertainty about what definition they use for a shotglass, and what definition they use for unique, I am not sure how many unique glasses I have.

: So if you and Mark have so many shotglasses have you contacted The Guiness Book of World Records people to lay claim to the title?
