PRESERVING & USING shotglasses

Hello Everyone

I started collecting shotglasses about 7 years ago. I only collect them from states, countries, or places i have been. Some examples The Virgin Islands, Disney World, The Golden Gate Bridge, etc.
I have always enjoyed displaying them but I interesting in changing that. I am trying to locate a method to preserve the designs on the glass and still use them. I am perhaps thinking about polyurethane.
I wonder if i applied a thin sprayed on coating to the exterior would it help to preserve the design and still allow me to use them often without fading or flaking.
If ANYONE has any info or help, please let me know!!!
