: Years ago I found a shotglass that is shaped like a thimble. On the bottom it is marked Pewter By Poole 2206. I searched your database and found it but I want to find out more about it like how old it is and what the value might be. Found did metal detecting at an old farmhouse. Thanks for any help you might be able to send my way.Monique

Monique,

In Pickvet's books he mentions that the saying "just a thimblefull" may have been one of the first sayings to have been put on a shot glass, around the late 1800's, on a glass shotglass shaped like a thimble. That said, pewter shotglasses with this pattern have been around for years and (I believe) are still being made. The most valuable are the sterling silver ones. I recently saw about 1 dozen of these style of shotglasses in an antique store.

It's hard to say what the value of the shotglass is, but why not look on ebay in current items and closed items to get an idea of what these are selling for?
