The best answer that I have for the numbers is related to the way that glasses are made. Glasses are not made in a continuous stream, they are made in "batches" or groups. Batch size varies by company, but for this example, lets assume that every batch contains 50 glasses. This means that 50 molds are filled for each batch. Every mold of the batch is assigned a different number. When the glasses go through the final quality control check, any defects can be traced back to a specific mold by the number -- instead of having to inspect all 50 molds only the mold with the corresponding number needs to be inspected.

I have not been able to Identify the name of the manufacturer of most of the "Made In Taiwan" glasses. The mark that I have in my database as "Taiwan <||> - ##" is my shorthand for "Made In Taiwan" in an arc around a stylized JG with a number below. The JG is much easier to see on the 3 ounce "candle holder" glasses. On smaller glasses, it does not look much like letters...

: Has anyone figured out the markings on the bottom of shot glasses? Foe example what does the Libbey code L 7 mean? (I know that the L stands for Libbey)How about "Made in Taiwan 16"? And of course there are many more
