This has been a debate question among collectors for years. Its just as complex as "what is a shot glass."
Most people will say 1 1/2 ounces. However many of those thick heavy shot glasses only hold an ounce. The glass shaped one hold slghtly more than 1 1/2 ounces.
And to complicate things it depends on how full the bartender fills the shot glass.
